The GIS and Conservation Territories 2015 seminar will take place from May 30 to June 01, 2015.

The venue is the Slobozhansky National Natural Park

The purpose of the seminar is to exchange experience in the application of GIS technologies in various areas of the functioning of protected areas, especially in research activities, and to increase the professional level of relevant specialists.

Possible options for participation: oral report, master class, listener, volunteer.

Presentations

1. Report on the results of the work within the framework of the “ESRI Conservation Program” at the Slobozhansky National Nature Park, the NPO “Gomolshanskie Forest” and the NPC “Dvurechansky”;

2. Geoinformational support for the activities of the organizations of the NFP;

3. National Nature Park as an object of multiscale landscape mapping;

4. Hydromorphological studies of small rivers in the sub-basin of the Danube Delta: assessment of environmental loads and risks;

5. GIS research on ecological nest of wild boar on the territory of the boron terrace of Slobozhansky National Nature Park;

6. Experience of using the original database “Ecoset”;

7. Use of Field-Map for large-scale mapping of monitoring stations;

8. Other reports.

Master classes

1. Getting Started with QGIS;

2. Field Data Collection with NextGIS Mobile and Collector for ArcGIS;

3. Geoinformation and statistical analysis of spatial data;

4. Basics of using JOSM (OpenStreetMap data editor);

5. Getting, preprocessing and using OpenStreetMap data;

6. Creation and publication of WEB-cards with the help of QGIS2Leaf.

Field trainings

1. Using Field-Map software and technology complex;

2. Use of a copter-type UAV for monitoring key areas.

Other

1. Presentation of data captured by the UAV, discussing possible uses of data for environmental and research purposes;

2. OSM-map bike party in the park in order to clarify the geometry and characteristics of the trails (third day of the workshop – June 1).

Park staff, teachers and students, professionals and volunteers who work with GIS are invited.

Organizational fee: it is provided for the reimbursement of organizational expenses (organization of food, consumables, etc.). Will make 150 UAH. Payment upon arrival at the workshop.

Accommodation and meals: accommodation in the premises of the Slobozhansky National Nature Park, the maximum possible number of participants for accommodation in the premises – 20 people (first registered). You can also settle in your tent directly near the building.
