On February 21, 2025, we held another training session as part of our «GIS for Communities» project. This time, participants included representatives from the land relations; urban planning; housing and communal services, landscaping, transport, and ecology departments of the Krasnokutska village territorial community (Krasnokutska Village Council), as well as researchers from Slobozhanskyi National Nature Park and representatives of Green Art Tour — Public Organization.
The training began with mutual introductions, during which we discussed the pressing issues and challenges faced by community staff. Together with project manager Oksana Zaliubovska, we outlined plans and strategies for future training sessions.
Andrii Achasov, an expert from SCGIS Ukraine, presented the capabilities of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and remote sensing as modern tools for effective territorial management, informed decision-making, and sustainable development. We also discussed how GIS can help address current issues such as inventorying forest belts and mapping the community’s hydrographic features.
More to come! These trainings are an excellent opportunity to gain useful knowledge and practical skills that will help you implement innovations in your work!
The event was held within the framework of the project «Geoinformation planning for sustainable recovery and development of green infrastructure in three communities of the Kharkiv region: joint efforts of local authorities and national parks» in the Krasnokutska community, with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
