Since 1990 Department of Urban Environmental Engineering has been training highly qualified specialists in the fields of ecology, engineering and conservation. The research areas of the department include landscape ecology of cities, conservation of biological diversity, optimization of regional ecological networks, management and protection of water resources, introduction of alternative energy sources, environmental expertise and environmental impact assessment.
