Scholarship Program Overview
The International Scholarship Program is designed to enable conservation GIS professionals to attend the Esri User Conference and the Annual SCGIS Conference, held in California each summer. It also provides them with the opportunity to participate in specialized three-week GIS courses organized specifically for scholars. These courses are collaboratively run by SCGIS, Juniper GIS, Esri, the UC Davis Information Center for the Environment, and the UC Berkeley Blue Oak Ranch Reserve.
Please note, this is not a typical scholarship program. It only covers some of the expenses associated with travel and attending these events; only in rare cases are we able to provide a scholarship that covers full costs.
The scholarship program primarily aims to support regions where international SCGIS chapters and informal SCGIS-affiliated community GIS groups are growing and developing, with the goal of fostering their continued growth. Please refer to the list of international chapters to learn more about the one nearest to you.
